My Grandad wrote this email to me in September 2017, the day before I started work ❤️. The end of an era and a new beginning... Dear Sophie, I have very mixed emotions about today. The selfishness in me never wanted today to arrive but the nicer me is glad to let go, reluctantly, of the apron strings and let you find your own way in life. Since the day you were born you’ve been the apple of my eye and it’s been a great pleasure helping you grow into the wonderful young lady you now are. You’re kind. You’re polite and you’re compassionate. You’re caring and active in your support for wildlife. You’re the epitome of the perfect grandchild and I’m immensely proud of you. Good luck for the future I’m tempted to say but on reflection you don’t need my ‘good looks’ you’ll make your own. (I just saw that unintentional play on words. Lol) All my love, Grandad
